Top tips for press and radio interviews
Be clear about your key messages.
For Will Aid these would include:
- It is vital for every adult to have an up-to date Will.
- Your firm will be providing your very best, professional service without charging a fee so that your client's money can go to the Will Aid charities.
- The Will Aid charities will ensure that donations are spent effectively to improve the lives of thousands of people here in the UK and around the world.
Do remember that:
- The interviewer is on our side and is trying to publicise Will Aid and your involvement in it. He or she is not likely to want to be hostile or controversial. So relax!
- Your interview is likely to be over the phone, so minimise surrounding noise.
- Prepare by thinking of the 3 key points you want to get across (see above). You might want to illustrate these points with examples. Perhaps you could talk about why it is so important to have an up-to date Will and give examples of what can happen if you die without one. If you want to demonstrate how Will Aid donations benefit those in need, take a look at Charities Work.
- Ask the interviewer what they are going to ask you or at least what their first question will be. This will help you prepare your answers and make you more relaxed.
- Make sure you give the audience your contact details and the Will Aid website www.willaid.org.uk and hotline number 0300 0300 013.
