All about Will Aid

Will Aid has a simple yet compelling objective – to encourage everyone in the UK to get their affairs in order by drawing up their Will and at the same time help 9 of the UK’s best loved charities. During November, instead of charging for drawing up a basic Will, solicitors waive their usual fee and instead ask the client to make a donation to Will Aid. The suggested donation is £75 for a single Will, £110 for mirror Wills.

Since its launch in 1988, Will Aid has raised more than £7m in donations which have been used by the participating charities to make a real and immediate difference to the lives of people around the world. But the Will Aid success story does not end there. In 2008 alone, £5.3m was pledged in legacies to the Will Aid charities and this will help ensure that their vital work can continue to help future generations.

Will Aid is run entirely by the partnership of nine participating charities.

Will Aid is good for business
In addition to the satisfaction of helping the Will aid charities, participating firms raise their profile and demonstrate to clients old and new that they share their concern for those in need. Will Aid achieves positive publicity in hundreds of features and interviews in national and regional media.

Since it began, Will Aid has persuaded over 120,000 thousand people into solicitors’ offices, many for the first time. Research has shown that these clients have above average income levels and are likely to choose the Will Aid solicitor for their future legal needs and recommend them to friends. Will Aid can be the first step in building a lasting relationship.

The Probate Section of the Law Society endorses Will Aid and urges its members to participate.
